Simon Kerins will take over from the retiring Matt Mitchell as chief executive officer of Tattersalls Ireland from Jan. 1. Kerins joined Tattersalls Ireland in 2000 and has been a member of the Tattersalls Ireland board since 2004, initially as marketing director and latterly as bloodstock sales director, while also being a senior member of the auctioneering and inspection teams for both Tattersalls Ireland and Tattersalls in Newmarket.
“Simon has been a key member of the Tattersalls Ireland management team for many years and brings a wealth of experience to the role of Tattersalls Ireland CEO, as well as a commitment to the company and its goals developed over a number of years,” said Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony. “He is well respected and well known not only throughout the Irish racing and breeding industry, but also in Britain and further afield and his detailed knowledge of the business is an extremely valuable asset, especially in these uncertain times.”
Kerins added, “Being a part of the Tattersalls Ireland team has always been a pleasure and I feel privileged to be taking on the role of CEO from Matt Mitchell. Tattersalls Ireland and the wider industry have plenty of challenges ahead, but we have a committed and dedicated team and I am enormously looking forward to working with them all in the shared goal of providing the best possible service to our vendors and purchasers who are key to the continued success of Tattersalls Ireland.”
